The real-life siblings Christian and Frank Berman started their careers as live musicians in their native Germany, playing in a variety of local funk, jazz and rock bands. In the ’90s, they successfully ventured into the world of dance and electronic music, earning multiple gold and platinum awards for their production of the Baha Men, the Real McCoy, Amber and Studio 54 (“If You Could Read My Mind”) and many more. They have been honoured by Billboard Magazine as one of the 20 most successful producers in the publication’s U.S. charts.
The Berman Brothers’ work has been awarded two BMI awards, a Golden Globe nomination, a Grammy nomination and a Grammy Award for the production and remix of the Baha Men’s hit “Who Let the Dogs Out.” Their productions have been featured in major TV campaigns for clients such as FIFA, Nissan, Casio, Lufthansa, Honda, Farmers Insurance, ESPN and Lexus. Their movie and soundtrack division has landed several songs in top 10 U.S. blockbuster movies, including The Hangover, The Fast And The Furious, Miss Congeniality and Studio 54. TV series include NCSI, House, Vegas, Sex and the City, The Sopranos, Grey’s Anatomy, Two and a Half Men and many more.
The Berman Brothers created and co-produced the album Rhythms del Mundo/Cuba, featuring an all-star cast of Cuban musicians, including Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club alongside international superstars such as Coldplay, Sting, Jack Johnson and Maroon 5. The album was released in over 60 countries and received multiple gold and platinum awards worldwide. It also reached No. 1 on the iTunes Latin album charts in 20 countries simultaneously. The Berman Brothers also produced a German version, Rhythms del Mundo/Cubano-Aleman, featuring artists like Xavier Naidoo, Udo Lindenberg, Silbermond, Adel Tawil and Jan Delay.
The brothers also created and produced the Number 1 Latin/Jazz album Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection, a lively and seamless blend of samba and bossa nova arrangements with some of the most iconic American Jazz vocal performances from Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Isley Brothers and Nina Simone, among others. These famous recordings are melded with brand-new, authentically arranged backing tracks from an all-star cast of Brazilian musical pioneers from the bossa nova and samba genres, including Roberto Menescal, winner of the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and Brazilian musical legend Marcos Valle. The Studio Rio version of The Isley Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing” was included in the Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Album.
